Face of Rasm by Muskaan

Rasm stroke

Brands start their journey with aspirations and expectations in mind, however Rasm by Muskaan started off envisioning togetherness and upliftment of our Indian Culture. These strong, rooted, and valued ideologies have their source in the upbringing and desire of our brand owner, Muskaan.

Muskaan has her roots deeply attached to the City of Faith, Culture, and Ethos, the city that is hailed as one of the oldest, the city of 80 Ghats : Kasi or as it is these days called Varanasi. Her upbringing included the essence of heritage and culture; how they are important for us to hold and preserve, and Rasm by Muskaan is the embodiment of those principles

As a child, observant and kind Muskaan was always keen about her surroundings and she always had the knack to understand the different livelihoods that drive the beautiful Kashi. Traveling by the ghats, into the marketing, and various nooks of Varanasi, Muskaan saw color, vibrance, and rhythm that evoked energy. Energy that has the power to unite, integrate, and speak for the real India.

One such event, drove the force that was needed to build the Brand: Rasm! One winter afternoon, before the cold wind of Varanasi cladded the entire city, Muskaan tagged along with her Mother and Aunts to the local textile market to buy Sarees. After visiting lots of shops and bewildered Muskaan with the sights of different fabrics, patterns, and color, her eyes fell over a Mother with her child on the lap as she weaved her way through the fabrics!

Muskaan returned home with an affinity towards learning more about the weavers community, fabrics, fashion, and the world famous Banarasi Saree. She pursued her degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and later studied Fashion. Her education backed her aspiration to give back to the community, give back to all those mothers a better life and condition so that they can weave with love as her children pursue their own dreams.

Today, Muskaan has successfully shaped his aspiration into a physical store and online store where she sells love, experience, and heritage and in turn upholds the weavers community which accounts to over 50% of the economy of Varanasi.

As Muskaan ventures forth with her brand to adorn and amplify the beauties of the world, she believes that the nine yards of elegance should be wrapped with warmth, affection, and sentiment. Thus, Rasm by Muskaan welcomes you to the world of a little girl who grew up in the alleys of Kashi with dreams in her eyes and aspiration in her heart.
